Interview prep: questions this posting points to

Written from 8 current Infrastructure postings on Microsoft's own careers page — not questions Microsoft has asked.

  1. Walk me through how you'd architect PCIe firmware for a DPU where device security is a primary design goal. What threat vectors are you specifically defending against at the firmware level, and how does that shape your design choices?
From the posting: “Architect and design PCIe firmware for the DPU with an emphasis on device security Develop, maintain and debug PCIe issues, including use of protocol analyzers”
  2. You're debugging a PCIe issue on the DPU using a protocol analyzer and you see intermittent completion timeouts under load, but the device works fine at idle. Walk me through how you'd isolate the root cause.
From the posting: “Develop, maintain and debug PCIe issues, including use of protocol analyzers”
  3. Tell me about a time you had to mentor or provide technical feedback to another engineer on a complex system design. What made it hard, and how did you approach it?
From the posting: “Mentor the team members”
