  1. Walk me through how you'd design a GenAI-based test tool that multiple independent teams across Amazon could plug into for their own testing pipelines. What would the extensibility points look like, and how would you avoid it becoming a one-off script that only your team can use?
From the posting: “design and develop GenAI tools, frameworks and testing infrastructure to facilitate the testing by multiple teams and Amazon business. This includes analyzing requirements, assessing testability, identifying automation opportunities and implementing them for projects where the work will be run by multiple businesses in parallel.pen_spark/ ... for projects where the work will be run by multiple businesses in parallel.pen_spark/ ... facilitate the testing by multiple teams and Amazon business.pen_spark/ ... pen_spark/Design and develop GenAI tools, frameworks and testing infrastructure to facilitate the testing by multiple teams and Amazon business.pen_spark/Lead effort towards simplifying test tools and technologies in terms of efficiency, effectiveness stability, extensibility, and scalability.”
  2. The HR conversational AI assistant starts giving employees confidently wrong answers about a leave policy that recently changed. Walk me through how you'd triage and fix this in production.
From the posting: “driving the operational fundamentals (accuracy, latency, quality) that earn employee trust”
  3. The Payroll and Freight postings talk a lot about 'ambiguous problems' and 'solving complex problems, applying appropriate technologies and best practices.' Tell me about a time when you had to turn an ambiguous or fuzzy requirement into a clear technical solution.
From the posting: “You will solve ambiguous business problems and map them to elegant technical solutions”

Are you a software development leader who thrives on building high-performing teams and delivering technology that makes a real difference for customers? At Amazon, you will lead a team of talented engineers through the full software lifecycle—from design and architecture through deployment and operations. In this role, you will own the strategic direction for your team's software systems, define a compelling vision, and translate that vision into a roadmap that balances near-term delivery with long-term innovation. You will tackle ambiguous problems, make critical technical and resourcing decisions, and partner across organizations to deliver results at scale.

If you are passionate about growing engineering talent, simplifying complex systems, and building software that customers love, we want to hear from you. Key job responsibilities - Lead and grow a software development team, owning the team's charter, vision, and roadmap while ensuring alignment with broader organizational goals and delivering high-quality, maintainable software systems. - Define and prioritize the team's product and architectural direction over a one-to-two year horizon, partnering with stakeholders and peer teams to sequence deliverables and resolve competing priorities. - Coach, mentor, and develop engineers across multiple levels through collaborative development planning, actionable feedback, and strategic project assignments that accelerate career growth. - Drive system design decisions that account for scalability, performance, security, and operational excellence, and create mechanisms to inspect service quality and customer experience through meaningful metrics. - Manage program execution across complex, cross-functional initiatives by identifying risks early, removing roadblocks, and communicating progress clearly through written narratives and planning documents. A day in the life You might start your morning reviewing operational metrics and customer feedback to identify areas for improvement, then shift into a design review where you challenge assumptions and guide your engineers toward a scalable solution. After a one-on-one coaching session with a direct report, you collaborate with partner teams to align on a shared roadmap.

Later, you draft a planning document that outlines your team's strategy for the coming year, weaving together customer needs, technical opportunities, and resource plans.
