Interview prep: questions this posting points to

Written from 8 current Cloud postings on Amazon's own careers page — not questions Amazon has asked.

  1. Walk me through how you'd design a serverless, event-driven pipeline on AWS that takes a GenAI/LLM model's output and turns it into personalized marketing content delivered across multiple channels like social media and YouTube at EU scale. What AWS services would sit where, and how do you handle backpressure if the LLM inference is slow?
From the posting: “integrate GenAI/LLM technologies and ML pipelines into production systems that drive personalized customer experiences at scale”
  2. It's the middle of a major marketing campaign push for Prime, and your GenAI-powered personalization service starts timing out intermittently, causing some customers to see generic fallback content instead of personalized offers. Walk me through how you'd triage this live.
From the posting: “using AI-assisted development tools to accelerate delivery, and ensuring systems perform reliably at scale”
  3. Tell me about a time you had to balance shipping a new feature with keeping a system reliable and performant — how did you make that trade-off decision?
From the posting: “Drive technical decisions and design solutions for ambiguous, cross-functional initiatives that balance new feature development with system reliability, performance optimization, and maintainability”

The Tax and Account Compliance team is dedicated to enabling Amazon's business and sellers to scale confidently by delivering reliable, efficient compliance solutions As a Senior Software Development Engineer on the Account Compliance team, you will lead the design and development of software that is extensible across use cases, products, and geographies. The ideal candidate will be eager to lead a team of innovators and own a suite of tools that power automated, scalable compliance and verification processing, with the end goal of providing Amazon shoppers and sellers with a frictionless and trustworthy experience. You will work in an Agile environment, partnering with product management and cross-functional teams to iterate quickly and raise the bar for our end users. Key job responsibilities • Design and develop highly secure, scalable, and fault-tolerant distributed systems for compliance and verification solutions using cloud computing technologies • Drive the overall development lifecycle of solutions and manage complex projects from inception to delivery • Collaborate with security engineers and product managers to develop strategy and roadmaps for secure, customer-facing solutions • Partner with engineering peers to develop technical designs and approaches for new product development • Establish and promote best practices for software development, documentation, and code quality • Ensure designs meet requirements and deliver high-quality work within defined timelines • Manage project prioritization, planning of features, stakeholder communication, and tracking of commitments • Drive operational excellence through monitoring and operation of production services A day in the life As a Senior Software Development Engineer, your day typically involves designing or researching technical solutions and alternatives for your team's most critical and complex features and projects. As a team leader, you will review your peers' code and dive deep into their design documents to provide feedback on software architecture, scalability, and security.

You will code the critical code path on your projects and coordinate with peers on tasks you delegate to them. You advise your manager on trade-offs and product direction.
